Labour unions call on government to address problems caused by high gas prices - APTS

In response to a significant increase in gas prices, unions representing health and social service employees (the APTS, FSQ-CSQ, FP-CSN, FSSS-CSN, CPAS-SCFP and SQEES-FTQ) are pressing the health and social services ministry and the CPNSSS (management bargaining committee for the health and social services sector) to address the inadequacy of recent adjustments to travel expense reimbursements.

The increase of $0.005/km granted by the Treasury Board on April 1, 2026, does not cover the real costs faced by employees, especially those who travel every day to provide home care and services. As a result, higher costs are unfairly shouldered by employees whose purchasing power is consequently reduced.

Labour organizations are demanding the rapid implementation of a temporary compensation measure so that work-related expenses are no longer borne by employees.

We will keep you informed of any developments.
