Letter or agreement no34 - Regarding dues paid to a professional order

ARTICLE 1 SCOPE

The provisions of this Letter of Agreement apply to employees holding a full-time position that involves the number of hours stipulated by their job title, and that requires them to belong to a professional order.

ARTICLE 2 RULES

From the date the collective agreement comes into force, the employee receives a reimbursement of fifty percent (50%) of the amount of the dues to the professional order, up to a maximum of four hundred dollars ($400) a year.1

The reimbursement is made upon presentation of receipts indicating that the employee has made the payment.

If this Letter of Agreement newly applies to an employee in the course of a year, the amount of the dues will be reimbursed prorated to the hours worked until the next date on which annual dues are paid.

An employee from an institution in the health and social services system who has already been reimbursed for dues to a professional order may not receive another reimbursement for this period.

If the employee leaves their job without showing that they will hold another position in the health and social services system, they must reimburse the Employer, prorated to the number of hours they would have worked until the next annual professional dues payment, for the reimbursement they have received.

1This provision also applies to employees in the health and social services technicians and professionals job class who are registered on a professional order’s vested rights register, which enables them to perform acts reserved for members of that order.
