Death of Robert Carrier, founding member of the APTS
March 25, 2026
It was with deep sorrow that we learned of the death, on March 16, of a founding member of the APTS, Robert Carrier, who played a decisive role in defending workers’ rights throughout his career.
A medical imaging technologist by training, Robert started his union work in the late 1970s with the STRQ (Syndicat des technologues en radiologie du Québec), becoming its president in 2002. This led him to take part in negotiations for the creation of the APTS in 2004, a group he championed with pride, particularly in his role as treasurer.
Today, we wish to recognize his exceptional commitment, his unwavering dedication and his legacy, which is deeply embedded in the DNA of the APTS.
For many, Robert was much more than a colleague: he was a mentor, a unifying force, someone who was always available to listen or offer advice.
We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to his family, his loved ones, and all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with him through his union work.
