The APTS announces the renewal of an essential agreement to support radiation oncology services in Outaouais

Longueuil – The APTS (Alliance du personnel professionnel et technique de la santé et des services sociaux) is proud to announce the renewal of an agreement to implement a temporary premium for employees who offer radiation oncology services at the CISSS de l’Outaouais, who have been under significant strain due to a serious labour shortage, exacerbated by their proximity to Ontario.
This agreement, reached with the CPNSSS (management bargaining committee for the health and social services sector), will maintain the measures that have helped stabilize teams, support employee recruitment and retention and ensure continuity of services for Quebecers in the region.
“The renewal of this agreement shows our ongoing commitment to ensuring that high-quality services are available across Québec,” said APTS president Robert Comeau. “When there is genuine political will from the government, we can work together to find concrete solutions that meet the needs of employees and the public. This renewal is a clear example of this.”
“For Quebecers living in Outaouais, this announcement is long awaited,” said Stéphanie Léger‑Roussel, APTS provincial representative for Outaouais. “Our members play an essential role in providing access to specialized care, and the stability of teams is a major issue in a region weakened by its location on the border with Ontario, worsening the labour shortage. This agreement will help improve the situation, but we need to continue our efforts to implement lasting, structural solutions for our region.”
Discussions are ongoing with the employer about renewing the premium currently paid to medical imaging technologists who work full time in the region.
